The Regional Deputy Commissioner (Mumbai Region) Ministry of
Social Justice & University of Mumbai in association with HITS Charitable
Trust & CEREBRAL PALSY ASSOCIATION OF INDIA organised the Divyang sanskrutik Mahotsav 2017 on 4th
February 2017 at University of Mumbai from 11am to 2pm.
The Presiding Guest was Dr. Surendra Kumar Bagade (IAS)
Secretary, Ministry of Social Justice, Government of Maharashtra.
The Chief Guest was Prof. Sanjay Deshmukh, Vice Chancellor,
University of Mumbai.
Guests Of Honour: Mr. Nitin Patil (IAS), Commissioner,
Disabilities, Social Welfare, Mr. Anil Kumar – Executive Vice President of Axis
Bank, Mr. S.K.Wadhwa – Zonal Manager (PNB), Mr. Moloy Kumar Bose, circle head
Mumbai Suburbs (PNB).
Other guests were Mr. Vipul Kaushik (PNB), Mr. Ramdas
Niitiware (PNB), Mr. Sanjay Padawe (Axis Bank).
Mst. Harshad Pajve wins first prize in the drawing competition
493 students, 235 staff members and 195 parents from 74
special schools of Mumbai City, Mumbai Suburb, Thane and Plaghar district
participated in the event. Trustees of various organizations also were present.
The sanskrutik event began by observing one minute of
silence to pray for souls of the soldiers who lost their lives.
The Presiding Guest Dr. Surendra Kumar Bagade’s encouraging
speech was presented to the audience. The lamp was lit by the Chief Guest Prof.
Sanjay Deshmukh Vice Chancellor of University of Mumbai.
He motivated the organizers of the event and the students
with his motivating speech.
The Anchor gave a brief information about the event and
introduced the guests. Swagat geet was presented by students of Kamla Mehta
Andha shala.
The Physically challenged students of SECD school Agripada
performed a group dance on wheel chair to the popular divyang prerna song sung
by Sri Shankar Mahadevan.
The event continued with few more solo and group songs by
persons with visual impairment, group dances by students of Skills and Ability,
Nerul and Shree Nakoda karnabadhir school, Solo dance by Ms. Divya Nayar and skit by C.S.D.S
school.
245 Prizes were presented to the winners of different events
like drawing & painting contest, dance competitions for the intellectually
challenged and hearing impaired students and singing competitions for the
visually impaired by the esteemed guests. The judges who helped in judging
various competitions were felicitated.
Stalls were put up to display the products made by the students of various vocational units and workshops. The prize winning drawings were also displayed.
The event ended with vote of thanks by Sri. Yashwant More,
the Regional Commissioner, Mumbai Region. He thanked the donors and sponsors of
the event Axis Bank, Punjab National Bank, Mumbai University for their support.
The cash rewards to the students were sponsored by both the banks. The
University of Mumbai provided its auditorium free of charge and also sponsored
the decorator’s charges. The food packets were sponsored by ETC, NMMC,Vashi. He
appreciated the efforts of the organizers, schools, NGOs and the committee
members and Mumbai University staff and volunteers for an eventful day and
assured that this event would be carried out every year henceforth.
The day ended with a silent National Anthem by the students
of Rochiram Thadani Highschool.
