Swami Brahmanand Pratishthan was entrusted with the responsibility of conducting the Thane District Sports Meet by the Social Welfare Department, Thane on the occasion of World Disability day. The event was organised at Bharat Ratna Late Sri. Rajiv Gandhi sports stadium, sector 3, CBD, Navi Mumbai on 3rd December. 424 special children from 25 special schools of Thane District and Navi Mumbai with disabilities such hearing impairment, mental retardation, visual impairment and orthopedic disabilities participated in various athletic and aquatic events. The Mayor of Navi Mumbai Sri. Sudhakar Sonavane along with the CEO of Jillah Parishad Thane Sri. Udhay Choudhry Inaugurated the event. Also present were Mr. Ravindra Patil,Addditional CEO of Jillah Parishad Thane, Dr. Jayaji Nath, Sri. D.S.Chabuksvar Dy. Commissioner Sports and State, NMMC and Sri. YashwantRao More, DY. Commissioner, Social Welfare department, Mumbai and Mr. B.A.Shinde, District Social Welfare Officer.
Padmasree Taranath Shenoy and Sri. Vikram Singh Adhikari were present as special invitees.
The Sports began with march past by the students headed by the International Special Olympic winners Ms. Sneha Verma Gold medalist, Ms. Disha Maru, Silver medalist of Swami Brahmanand Pratishthan and Mst. Pratik Shende of Savitribai Special School. The Lamp was lit and flag hoisted by the Mayor followed by oath taking by the students.
After a formal welcome of the dignitaries the special invitees Padmasree Taranath Shenoy and Sri Vikram Singh Adhikari were felicitated. The International Winners were also felicitated by the dignitaries. The Mayor motivated the children with his speech and declared the meet open. Vote of Thanks was given by
