Sukanya Venky, the Principal of Swami Brahmanand Pratisthan, Centre for mentally Challenged, has won ADARSH SHIKSHAK PURASKAR award
for her excellent quality of work done in the field of teaching the handicapped. The function was held at St John Baptist at Thane. The Award was given by the District Social Welfare Officer Mr. R.B. Shirsat and President of Rotary Club of Thane Central Mr. Uday Vaidya.
Sukanya joined the school in 1992 as a special educator. The centre, operated on ground-floor-premises of Dr Prashant Moralwar, was small with only twenty students. She has played a great role in the progress of the school and the centre now had 105 students on its roll.
She would like to study further and do research in this field for better understanding and for providing a better service.
