Linata Gujarathi is the new sponsored child


Linata Gujarathi is the new sponsored child of a sponsor from USA. She is 25 years old mentally challenged girl (date of birth, 5th Nov ’79) with an epilepsy problem. Her father is retired and her mother is a house wife. She lives in a joint family of six members. She is the eldest of three sisters. Both of her younger sisters have finished their higher education and are presently working. Parents have spent lot of money on her medication and therefore a sponsor was required for her. She loves coming to school.

Linata was born a normal child. When she was two and half years, she suffered from a high fever that affected her brain. Linata was attending the Uran centre for past 4 years and from the last year, she has been attending the CBD centre.

Linita has been trained to read and write in Marathi. She does make an effort to copy a few words in English, for example, she can copy her name, or greetings of a simple message on a greeting card. She is very creative. Hence she is being trained in embroidery, making handicraft items and greeting cards, besides she is also trained in home science activities and helps in grinding of spices. She also participates in extra curriculum activities such as singing, drawing etc.

Because of her health problems, she is unable to do strenuous tasks and her participation in sports activities is restrictive.
